3 - Press team

short introduction of participants:

  • Thijs - here on request of Nienke, "listening for her", with PP-NL since 2009
  • MindHack - from PP-FR, likes the idea of international cooperation
  • Denis - board member of PPI, responsible for the press work, with PP-CH
  • Gregory - co-chairman of PPI, with PP-DE, involved a lot into PPI (and other) press work.
  • Denis: So, we decided to start regular PPI press-team meeting, in the hope that more people could participate. We would also distribute the results to our members, and hopefully we would create something that other pirate parties could profit from.
  • MindHack - in France we do not have a structured press team, so we are interested in the exchange with others. I would like to know, how you are organized, what tools you are use, and what can we take from you. In France, what works well is the monitoring of the press about us, using a collaborative tool http://presse.partipirate.org/ it works well for us. The second thing that is working well is https://www.facebook.com/LundisOpinions?fref=ts - which is a meeting every week (on mumble), where we talking about the press releases (also about the press releases of others) and there we decide, what we need to react to, and what we are going to adopt. Then we have a debate to talk about different topics, e.g. the next one will be about canabis, the last one was about the "economical impact of piracy" - and we produce something like http://www.partipirate.org/spip.php?article397&var_mode=preview (not released yet, login needed). We have also an international page for english speaking readers : https://www.partipirate.org/spip.php?rubrique33
So, I am thinking, we can have something like this in a regular meeting, and this could be interesting for you and for us, to exchange regulary. We could make regular topical meetings to talk in english about political topics.
  • Denis: this is just the beginning
  • Gregory: I really like the idea of political talks and exchange in english, we definetly go to organize this. And I also like the idea of a collaborative tool for press monitoring, i will look closer to this.
  • MindHack - we are working on an icecast plugin for mumble (on french server), so we are able to stream those meetings
  • Gregory: I am interested in getting this plugin, so we could install on this server (NRW) as well
  • Meetings: 1st/11th/21st of every month (not on holidays), 21:00 CEST

4 - CRM

  • Denis: now we are ready to come to PPI Tools - we have a CRM, but it is not used yet, we have created a distridution list of international english speaking press and wire services
  • Mindhack: we are using a mailing list with about 4500 journalists. We could help to fill the CRM system
  • Gregory: CRM system: http://crm.pp-international.net I can create account for you, check your mail
  • Gregory: before we are going to talk about the ppi specific issues, i would propose to move it to the next meeting
  • Mindhack: what is the need for this meeting, is it to exchange of the the experience of national press team, is it to create material to promote pirates? is there also a ppi communications team, besides the press team, since this things can be different.
  • Denis: We have several things here. We have created a set of structures and procedures, but we stopped working at it at some point and moved to simply writing press releases, we could get back to this.
  • Mindhack: also, what is the relationship with PirateTimes? it seems a little overlapping in scope
  • Gregory: PirateTimes is an journalistic inderpendent media outlet, and it
