Fundraising Ideas
- PPNL European election fundraising was a bit contraversial, because they promised a return on the work. The concept of gambling or high-risk loans might imply. Nothing came out of it. There was a limit, because it would otherwise potentially bankrupt the party. Donations of around 50, 100, and a few 1000, totaling 10,000ish.
- Open collectives
- Has anyone hear about open collectives?
They are a collective. They have easy to donate buttons, but you list your core people who donate. It is an opensource solution for managing donations. It is also good for small groups that do not have their own bank accounts. You can apply for financial hosts. https://opencollective.com/
- Merchandise:
Olivia: I'm seeing some Parties selling face masks and water bottles with their logos on it and other merchandise such as shirts and computer stickers. On a prior meeting I suggested selling pet clothing for dogs and cats that have the PPI colors and logos & other merchandise for computers such as stickers and mouse pads. In youtube videos I also see cats in cute Pirate outfits too. Pirate hats!! Pirate flags of countries too.
- Gregory: WE are a global organisation, and selling stuff globally is a challenge (citation needed). We do have technically a shop in the wordpress, we can start selling stuff imediatly. but what would we do, if somebody actually order something? Who would then do the sippinig, handling and customs?
Idially we would need multiple fulfillment centers worldwide (North America, EMEA, Asia, etc) that would take on the fullfillment. Amazon Merch could be one such solution, but they only do "normal" clothing (t-shirts, hoodies), but no cutie pet clothing...
Keith: we also could use the national pirate shops - Czech, Dutch, etc - and let them sell "our" stuff.
- We can set up one or a few items that are low cost that we can provide to the local shops, international items.
- Get the people who already have the shops to share their designs, and thus let everyone set up their webshops.
Olivia: How about adding a mascot with the PPI logos too.
Olivia: The Merch Amazone link looks promising. It's global too.
- When other countries are interested, I can try to find the design of this shirt: https://piratenpartij.nl/winkel/heren-t-shirt-klokkenluiders/
- The Czech shop has a lot of stuff nowadays - https://www.piratskyobchod.cz/
- Mascot versus coat of arms discussion
- The PPI store could group the orders from the national stores in the same way as central purchasing agencies do.
Olivia: There are baby onesies on the CZ store too!!
Olivia: Is beach merchandise popular? Tote bags and towels, etc. Phone covers!!!
- PPCZ can do international shipping and sell our stuff.

2020 Call (2019)
New Rules for Fees
Invoice [#XXXXX]
Dear [PIRATE PARTY]
The following are the 2019 membership fees for Pirate Parties International (PPI), which are due by the end of 2020.
We would like to ask you to pay the affiliation fees for the past year, if it is within your party's financial means. These fees are now calculated according to the new system that was decided at the 2018 GA. The amount owed is outlined in the PPI Wiki: https://wiki.pp-international.net/wiki/index.php?title=Affiliation_fees
Please review the following 4-Tier Membership Fee System and select which bracket does your party fall under.
The Four Tiers are as follows: 1) Mature, 2) Established, 3) Emerging, 4) Nascent.
Mature members are established members that also receive regular state funding, have elected officials at state or regional level, and/or have elected officials at local level who receive compensation. (fulfill at least two).
Established members are emerging members that also have paying members and run for elections on a regular basis (fulfill all).
Emerging members are Nascent members that also collect donations (fulfill all).
Nascent members have regular statutory activities, such as general assemblies and run activism projects (fulfill all).
The amounts payable as set by the 2018 General Assembly:
Mature would pay 1000 euros.
Established would pay 185 euros.
Emerging would pay 50 euros.
Nascent would pay 0 euros.
No member shall pay more than 2% of their previous annual income. This would apply to the affiliation fees that are due in 2019. If you have difficulties paying the fees, please just let us know. We do not want any member to not participate for financial reasons.
Parties that do not have sufficient funds can request a discount, according to the 2% rule: Affiliation fee payments should not be above 2% of your total budget. If your party has any difficulties with payment, please contact us. We do not want any party not to participate in PPI due to lack of funds. However, we do require your affiliation fee payments to keep our internet servers running and offset the costs of conferences and meetings. PPI is a non-profit institution. All funds will be documented on our Wiki finances page: https://wiki.pp-international.net/wiki/index.php?title=Finances.
Since the new system puts each party to a set tier, the fees should no longer change between years. We would therefore also liked to kindly ask you to consider to pay the 2020 fees as well, yet within the year 2020. There's no need for your party to do this, but it would be greatly appreciated to improve PPI's cashflow. But the rules are still the same: every year the fees are collected for the previous year.
/note about additional optional fee to suplement the fees of the poorer parties/
Affiliation fee payments can be made by the following means: 1) Bank transfer, Pirate Parties International, Case postale 36, 1188 Gimel IBAN: CH63 0900 0000 8901 9371 7 BIC: POFICHBEXXX Geneve, Switzerland
