Here you can write your application for PPI board member. To submit your application copy-paste the table or write an e-mail with the information to board@pp-international.net and we will add you to the list. ( we do have temporarily problems with wiki, so we are glad to help)
Sponsors - According to IV (4) (b) and V (2) (b) of the PPI statutes candidates to any body of the PPI must be proposed by an ordinary or observer member of the PPI. If you submit your application please add your sponsor. One member can support multiple candidates and the person applying for a position doesn't necessarily need to be a member of that organization. If you don't have a sponsor before the conference you still might be able to convince a delegation on the spot.

motivation and political background | PPI is in need of reform. The international Pirate Movement is
dependent on its members being active from its grass roots and not from an elite. All attempts at reform have failed up to now and that is due to the current statutes and board structure. The fact that there is no interest from other Pirates to join the board shows how desperate the situation has become. I hope that others will also put their names forward to either support me or, more likely, to oppose me and keep me out. At least there would be some semblance of democracy. Currently I am both Editor of Pirate Times and Chairman of Pirate Party of New Zealand |

PPI has a crisis. We need to solve it together. There a people who rather would like to see PPI failing, to see the whole Pirate Parties Movement failing, submerged in internal fights with no impact on the world. But the truth is, that PPI is facing a pivotal point to become an organization that can reach out to the world and make an impact. PPI have overcome most of the limiting factors from its past - we finally have a working set of instruments to move on forward - a usable bank account, a playable source of income, financial transparency and official financial documentation. The PPI is a sum of its Members and the interactions with them. The perceived crisis with PPI is not of structural nature, but of communications. We need to make our version of the story heard, the trolls and destructive people have dominated the conversation long enough. We need to broaden the conversation, we need to include PPI members into ongoing conversation - and for that I see very positive towards the set up standing committee structure, that will include topical experts across the globe in a common conversation. Also the inclusion of individual supporter members, as decided on the online GA 2015, will help to broaden this conversation. For the coming year PPI need to engage more partners in its activities - more Members, more supporters and more allies. PPI need to focus on the global issues - as legislation on the global level (like WIPO or WTO agreements, TPP or TTIP regulation) will finally affect us all, also on local level, in a kind, that national political parties have no ways to influence it. |

that is due to the current statutes and board structure. I would like to help with restarting PPI and reconciling the different sides, motivating all Pirates worldwide to put in more efforts to build up a strong global pirate movement. There are a lot of people in the movement waiting for a signal to get active but hesitating because of things. I would like to build up a new team of action (kind of a think tank) besides the PPI board, which concentrates on developing global visions and powerful tools for the international pirate movement. I would like to build up international fund raising. I would like to use modern tools to discuss, no more mailing lists. We have to promote our ideas worldwide to gain new members and friends. We have to have people interested in the digital changes and changing allocations happening in the world. We don't need bureaucrats in the PPI, we need visionary leadership and motivated people, who want to fix things. In the face of my very spare time as the chairman of one of the biggest pirate union in germany, I'd build up a team of international experienced aides from different countries by my side, delegating several tasks to them. My political background could be described as left-wing libertarian freedom fighter, an european pirate with an arab mentality ;) |

Mostly in family politics on an international level. After the introduction of the Pirate Party this has been my passion. Founding member of PP-NO. My motivation to do what I do is simply to make the world better for everyone. My approach has always been to look for factual system failures and find ways to fix the lack of protection of basic rights. With the Pirate Party idea we finally have a political instrument to initiate actual change and transparency. Lack of transparency has always been a problem in activism. |

qualifications | I have a BS in Mathematics from MIT and a PhD in Statistics from Harvard. Most of my career has been in information technology and telecommunications, in a variety of positions, including managing big teams for private companies, and working in the UN system (International Telecommunication Union). |
language(s) | English, French and Italian fluently. Conversational German. Some Spanish. |
motivation and political background | Given my background, I came to the conclusion back in 1999 that the copyright system is broken. My ideas back then to reform it were, and still are, very similar to those of the Pirate Party. A bit later, I got interested in patents and came to conclusions that, again, are similar to those of the Pirate Party. The same holds for the other key themes of the Pirate Party, such as privacy and surveillance.
My goals in joining the PPI Board would be to help to promote the Pirate views in Geneva, Switzerland, where I live, at the many international organizations that have their headquarters here (such as WHO, WIPO, WTO, etc.). Given my experience in ITU, I think that I know how to influence discussions in those forums and I would be very pleased to advance the cause. |

motivation and political background | I believe collective intelligence is the only thing that can save the World, and I’m trying to help it rise on a global level.
I’m currently working on a technology aiming to empower the crowd through a combination of collective governance, cloud working and gaming. I believe that we are now ready to make the switch from social networks to action networks and turn humanity into a “7 billion startup” that could virtually solve any problem. |

PPI needs to win back the trust of it's members. One basic requirement to be able to start doing this is to uphold it's own statutes. I would like to continue my work in the Court of Arbitration to make sure that those statutes are uphold and conflicts are avoided. |
