4 - REPORTS

4.1 - Short reports of the board members

Board

  • Keith Goldstein: Registered us for UNODC. We are attending a transnational crime convention in Vienna. I wrote a letter, and we now should have membership in UNODC. We are monitoring other events throughout the UN. ThinkTwice venue has been booked. Oct. 17 at the Steigenberger hotel in Brussels. We are confirming final speakers. Also, I have a PPI banner at home. I debate where to move it. It is really big.
  • Gregory Engels: nothing substantial to report.
  • Bailey Lamon: Nothing to report
  • Alexander Isavnin: Not present
  • Sebastian Krone:
Despite the end of the maintenance contract, I have continued to monitor the PPI technology as I do every day.
I requested confirmation of the termination but have not yet received a response. I still need this confirmation for our liability insurance - still no response!
Despite the General Assembly’s resolution on June 20, no one from the board has contacted me to explain what happens next.
The servers can also simply be shut down immediately if that is what is desired.

We discussed changing from Wire to Signal, Telegram, or Element for our internal PPI challenges.

  • was last weekend in Reutlingen BW and talked with Borys Sobieski former german chairman of PPDE about general pirate related stuff and ideology and these things and what it means for the national and international level and the future of Pirates and our pirate mindset in general
  • right now working on a new piece for "Starke Meinungen" and had some talk with different german pirates in the last weeks in the time between our meetings
  • Have contact with Nasrin Amirsedghi, who is a german publicist with Iranian background and who is a pirate as well about a planned project which might be interesting in the future as well.
  • visit the Nuklearia Stammtisch in Dortmund on 18.8. for some chat and networking so to get a bigger picture in european and world wide policy developments from different angles and also to understand the other PP in different aspects as well to grasp the bigger picture in many topics. (so why i can not attend the meeting in person today)
  • Had some conversation with Pippo former swiss Pirate Member about the future and developments of the pirate movement. He wanted to join us in Reutlingen as well but then there were timing conflicts.
  • Had some contact and helped some Pirates in MV with their election campaign and gave them some feedback and exchange in information and political developments
* Had some discussions with mostly german Pirates on differerent levels about different political developments in general and helped them when they needed help with some drafts they do, and when their pieces might be out it could also help us in our debates on the international level and our debates because some pieces fits well to debates parties like the slovenian pp for example or others have written before. So we are able to break the national bubble inside our heads.
