This is the application to host the conference at Ravensburg-Friedrichshafen, Germany.

We need the conference as "marketing effect" for our elections taking place then.

The computer technic (Hotspots, Wiring et al.) can be supplied in the required amount.

The costs are found in the offer split up into single components (Wiring, Powersplitters, WLAN).

There will be a transmission rate of 124kb/s to every participant of the congress.

Streaming

Audio-/videostreaming is possible with the existing network.

For networking and streaming hardware we'd ask the german pirate partie's technical headquaters if they'd lend us their equipment which proved to be sufficient for streaming the german party congress.

Power and Internet costs

Power consumption (150 Laptops) 408,00 €
Internetaccess 150 pax via WLAN and net 450,00 €

Netzwork Wiring 150 Laptops* 640,00 €

(*) these may be spared, if we succeed in lending the hardware from our technical headquaters.

Travelling

There are different ways to get to Friedrichshafen:

  1. Via airplane: find attached the flight plan for FN airport for 2011.
  2. Via train: Coming from Airports at Munich, Zurich and Stuttgart (or

the minor Airport Memmingen) one can reach FN in about 1-3 hours.

  1. Via car: well, you can check this out at www.map24.com
  2. Via ship: There is a catamaran regularely traveling from Konstanz to

Friedrichshafen - a very cool way to travel for a pirate, ain't it?

TEAM

As general contact person, I'd offer myself (Richard Holderied). I can speak german and english well enough and I'm also capable of some french and italian (but only IF spoken slowly *G*).

As for our team, we're the chapter of the german pirate party in the area of Friedrichshafen and Ravensburg. For the conference time, we will get some assist from the local chapter at Konstanz. All at all there should be enough persons to manage the conference. Namely, we have in our rows:

  • a paramedic (very useful, since these are often mandatory for larger

conferences)

  • a DJ for sound issues
  • "some" networkers and computer engineers
  • a young and dedicated crew

BUDGET

Currently, we cannot advance the costs of this conference since we have insufficient funds. There might be a possibility to lend money from the german federal alliance, but there is no way in telling if we succeed.

So the PPI would be liable to fill out contracts and balance bills itself or alternatively give money to us in advance.

Total approx. costs: 4.656€

Other accommodation:

There are lots of hotels in Friedrichshafen, prices for a single chamber start at about 50 Euro. You can consult a pricecompare site like "www.hotel.de", but keep in mind to keep the distance to the airport or the city low. Once the target date for PPI has been found, I will also assist parttakers to find a suiting hotel room.

EXTRAS

Being located next to the lake Constance, Friedrichshafen is a city within the heart of a german tourist region.

The most outstanding advantages are:

  • Friedrichshafen is really in the centre of Europe and can be reached from France, Switzerland, Austria, Luxemburg and Italy (and of course Germany) with little effort.
  • At the aspired conference date there might be carneval: If you'd take the suggested weekend (4)/5/6.03.2011, there will be going on a lot in the evening hours (as this is called the "clownish time") - party on!
  • If you're more for relaxing, you might want to visit the nearby "Therme Meersburg" (http://www.meersburg-therme.de, a "hot bath" with sauna) that can be reached within approx. 1/2 hour by bus, every 30 min.
  • In Friedrichshafen, there is a promenade along the lake with many restaurants, icecream, coffee and beer bars and of course you get the well known german beer for reasonable prices.
