From PPI
The German Piratenpartei develops and implements technology to enable decision-making from the ground up. The aim is to relieve party candidates, representatives and parliamentaries from having to take tough decisions. They only need to deliver what the party as a whole has decided upon.
We have been experimenting with several forms of Liquid Democracy and even developed our own solution tailored to our needs as a pirate party. It is called Liquid Feedback and goes far beyond just liquid democracy as the article explains.
This technology is currently also being tried out by the Brazilian PP.
On the other hand, direct democracy can include:
- Democratic control, with popular votations to approve or derogate laws by the people.
- Open list
- Recall election
