4 - REPORTS

4.1 - Short reports of the board members 1)

Board

  • Keith Goldstein:
Attended the working group meetings, PSC, and had a number of meetings with individual members. Put up a few blogs on our website and forwarded them on social media. Set up groundspasses in NY and Geneva. Next step Vienna. I found a good opportunity for PPI to make a statement at UNHQ about public administration that seemed suited to our needs. We can make a written or oral statement.
  • Gegory Engels
attended SCENE meeting, registered Mastodon account, gave access to twitter to Keith, looking into various social media tools, and our old documentations on processes and guidelines.
  • Bailey Lamon:
Attended the SCENE meeting, kind of. I was quite sick and not really able to participate, and fell asleep during the meeting. If I'm not mistaken, the next one will be on March 11th (same day as the next board meeting)? I guess I sort of contributed to the BDS post that just went up on our website.
  • Alexander Isavnin:
Participated in the combined workshop meeting. I am still thinking about what we can do with the IGF. Listened to the PSC.
  • Sebastian Krone:
I have been monitoring the PPI technique as I do every day.
All patches are up to date. All systems are running smoothly.

  • Thomas Gaul

Alternates:

  • Babak Tubis:
Attended at the PSC, I hope that we get more with the Bluesky account now.
  • Schoresch Davoodi:
Attended the SCENE meeting, Attended at the PSC, contributed to the BDS post, networking
  • Stefan Dekkers:

5.1 - Proposals

  • From last meeting: Start inquiring into the possibility of registering PPI in the USA as a tax exempt organization, including possible legal constructs, risks and liabilities. Task Keith to organize this inquiry and report back to the board when its done.
Concern about the cost, bank account, accountants.
There is a short form for lower donation expectations, more requirements of accounting and forms with more donations.
We need to have a group that is registered in the USA, and to make sure that we have clear people who are responsible and liable.
Question from Marc about how we can be sure about someone being trustworthy.
Gregory is involved in an IT association. There is a requirement that there needs to be an American citizen.

  • We need a page that shows the websites and social media accounts of each party.
This used to exist on our Wiki.
Maybe we can pass this to our SCENE working group.
  • Clean up the board Wire
Keep Mike Gill, because he was GenSec. (he is not in the chat)
It is not a secret chat.
Bastian thinks that we need a NDA for anyone that remains.
Keith will write to the remaining board members and see if they want to be secretaries, and we will decide from there.

5.2 - Working Groups Update

https://wiki.pp-international.net/wiki/index.php?title=Standing_Committees
We still need to submit the SCUBA report.
We have a new Bluesky, Mastedon accounts.
We have to get the special email and phone number from Bastian to register the accounts there, in order that we won´t ever lose access.

5.3 Economic Update

  • Treasurer Report:
Bank account: 3,540,50 CHF
Bank account: 36.06 EUR
PayPal: 245.19 EUR

Membership Issues

  • How is the system:
https://wiki.pp-international.net/wiki/index.php?title=Statutes#XVI._Affiliation_Fees
https://wiki.pp-international.net/wiki/index.php?title=Affiliation_fees
The German Pirate Party submitted its payments.
  • Crowdfunding campaign - platform
Bastian reported the bank accounts balances
Babak indicated that there were bills missing in the last few years. Last year there was no party financing from the state, and so according to the rules we drop down to another tier. But we did not get that bill or information. We only received an indication that we are overdue.

5.4 ECOSOC/UN

  • Vienna grounds passes
Enno Lenze requested a pass.
I reached out to Pirates in Vienna to see if we can incorporate anyone new.
  • Public administration ecosoc statement
  • ECOSOC volunteers email group was revived.
If you do not get those emails and would like to, let us know.

5.5 PPI HQ update

  • We must approve a correction. We have adopted the PPI statutes. Maybe they need to be translated. We will postpone that point.

6 AOB - Any other business

  • Review of PSC
  • Japan Pirate Party request for blog on Pegasus spyware.
Sebastian apologies for being a bit late.
Mark has a question for Bastian about PPNL membership fees. 2024 was paid, but 2025 was not received.
Mark, there was feedback on the BDS blog. Someone in their party was angry about the post and wrote a list of feedback about it. I will ask him to visit next week.
Schoresch we did not receive any feedback. I received some policy feedback.
Keith, if the Dutch member who has feedback would like to provide us with a counterargument or media that they would like us to share. They should please reach out to us with that content.
