Piratpartiet (official abbreviation: PIR) is the Pirate Party Norway / PP-NO
Status
16th of June 2012 the first official founding assembly was arranged in Trondheim with online participants via Mumble. The participant agreed on the core program, how to organize liquid democracy within the party organisation. The strategy for how to collect 5,000 signatures before the end of 2012 was also agreed upon by the participants. The goal was topped with 1,400+ signatures mid December 2012.
The primary goal to collect 5,000 signatures in order to become registered as a political party was achieved and approved 21st December 2012 and the party was officially approved registered as a political party late January 2013 as of 21st December 2012.
It was an intensive fight and a lot activity based on donations and voluntary work during the national elections in 2013.
The party got 4,3% of the votes during the school elections, but below 0,4% in the general national election. With the results from the school elections the party could have got as many as 9 representatives in the parliament (Stortinget). For a few months Pirate Party Norway had an official elected local representative in a small municipality as he was part of the founding of PP-NO, but had to go from his elected position for personal reasons in March 2013.
In 2019 the current party chairman got elected running with a coalition that got 5,8% of the local votes. The city coucil then elected him as a vice-chair to The Local Appeals Board and vice-chair to The Experts Appeals Board for Real-Estate Tax 2019-2023.
Organisation
Pirate Party Norway now have some funding from the state after the elections which amounts approximately €1.5 per vote given during the national election. This gives the party some more resources than during the start-up. Thew planning for the national election in 2017 have already been started.
Achievements
Norway have had a very efficient group of internationally engaged members since the start-up in 2012. We have tried to be observers as much as humanly possible since July 2012.
The first official international representation in the pirate party community was in July 2013 though during the PPEU Warsaw Conference and had two official delegates during the founding of European Pirates (PPEU). Norway has a vice-chair in the board of the European Pirate Party.
Norway was also represented with a board member in PPI as of the Paris GA 2014 which is from 2015 first alternate board member.
Political co-chair was elected to several minicipal committees following the 2019 local elections.
Plans
Increase member base and get elected representatives in the national elections 2021.
High international level of cooperation.
Program
Currently the core program is organised in eight columns [1]
